I was lucky enough to attend Pilchuck Glass School over the summer both as a teaching assistant and as a student. I was TA for James Harmon and Brynhildur Thorgeirsdottir where there were some magestical sand cast and mold blown creations made. I was also TA for Róisín de Buitléar who was my mentor in the Craftmaster series and has been instrumental in supporting my development. We worked in the dynamic 'Hands on Session' where students moved through all of the studios over a week.
I took a class with Mel Douglas and Tim Edwards called Mapping The Surface. The class looked at the development of ideas and taking these from the hotshop to the coldshop. I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend time using the cold working equipment at Pilchuck.
