The themes running through her artistic work relate to the human condition, memory and nostalgia. These are themes common to every person and for many are highly emotively charged.
Through manipulation of forms, color and light, in both blown and cast glass pieces Aoife explores these themes in a personal but accessible way. The forms she creates are recognizable and yet abstract from the precise object allowing the viewer to respond to the familiar and the unknown. The arrangement of pieces is intended to remain simple, allowing the qualities of the glass to speak. In creating her functional glass range Aoife is greatly influenced by Scandinavian design. She uses prefer simple shapes and forms, contrasting bright colours and careful details. These details are designed to work with the qualities of glass and ensure the pieces are not only functional but striking stand alone pieces.
